Open Door supports Street Pastors, a national organisation which trains people from local churches to be present on the streets at night.

Rochdale has two teams: an early shift on Kirkholt estate and a late shift in the town Centre.

Pat Holland has been a Street Pastor for 5 years.  She says “Our aim is to listen and help people in need if required.  For me, it is taking church out of a building onto the streets.

The idea of Street Pastors was to try to make the streets safer at night time. Hopefully we bring a calming affect with our presence.

I feel safe on the streets, get hugs and enjoy a laugh whilst being supported by a group of prayer pastors.”

More people are needed to be trained as Street Pastors, anyone interested please contact Jean Briggs, Rochdale coordinator, on 07813634859.
